Sunny and 75°….HA! More like 105°: Tips to beat the Summer Heat

Okay..for all my Arizona peeps out there, am I the only one d-y-i-n-g of heat stroke on a day to day basis?

Yeah. Hello, awful.

BUT there are some sure-fire ways to beat the heat.

Tip #1: drink water.
I mean a lot of water…especially if you live in a dry-heat place like the big A-Z. I try to drink a gallon a day minimum. This is SO important for MANY reasons. Not only does our sweat, natural bodily functions and exertion strip us from our water, but the amount of sun and heat that we endure on a daily basis depletes us of our water entirely. According to multiple sources, our bodies are made up of about 60% of water. When you drink a lot of water, everything from your mindset to your waistline are altered. Contrary to what you would think, drinking a lot of water helps you shed some serious lbs.
Upon other reasons, one of the main reasons high water intake lowers your weight is because you are less prone to snack on unhealthy things because you will be fuller from your water. Now before you peg that as ridiculous, think about it. It works!
{One more tip} Always drink before you feel thirsty. Once you feel that way, you are past due for some water. Even if it feels like you’re drinking a lot, it’s okay…your body will take care of itself. According to WebMD, “Through the posterior pituitary gland, your brain communicates with your kidneys and tells it how much water to excrete as urine or hold onto for reserves,” So you will be ay-okay. <Disclaimer> everything in moderation according to your diet. If you have a hard time drinking water plain, throw some fresh fruit in it to add some flavor like this one <<{{Click for recipe}}!

Flavored Water

Tip #2: Make Some Yummy, Cold, Skinny Treats!
Skinny Margarita Popsicles are the perfect route to take. [Whether it is good advice or bad according to tip #1 {Alcy causes dehydration}, these are bomb popsicles.] Worth it? I’d say.

Tip # 4: Stay in the Shade!
According to epa.gov,
About 171 people in Arizona die of melanoma every year. Since 1975, the melanoma death rate in Arizona has risen by an average of about 1% per year among residents over the age of 50…” and it just keeps climbing. Although we need our dose of Vitamin D, it is super important to wear your sunscreen, cute sunnies (to protect your eyes), a hat, and stay in the shade. << These things will help you avoid melanoma, age spots, wrinkles and much more.

Fav Sunscreen

This Aveeno SPF 15 sunscreen and moisturizer {{Click link to get your own}} is great [for your face] and doesn’t make you breakout. I use it everyday because it works both as a moisturizer as well as a sun protectant. Be proactive, friends. 

And with that being said, suns out guns out! 😉
