Ab’s Secrets- Contouring Like A Pro

Hi ladies!

This one is specifically for you… Do you ever see those pictures of models and you wonder how the heck they were blessed with such an fantastic jawline only for it to draw your eyes up to their flawless cheek bones, timeless temples and thin, flattering nose?? Uh..ya, me too. WELL, this just in: there is a little secret known as photoshop “contouring” and I’m going to give you 411 on this tactic so you too can look like a mod.

In my previous post, I focused a little more specifically on how to cover up a bad breakout, but included some details on contouring in the product breakdown. I felt it was necessary to expand on that because there is SO much you can do with this little trick. To keep the application description simple, I made a short video (below) to show you specifically what spots to hit with your bronzer to create the image that you have a highly angular face.

For this look, I used a blunt-cut large brush much like this one: MAC brush Although there are many differing opinions about what brush is the best for contouring, I have found this type to be my favorite because it picks up a good amount of product and only applies the bronzer where I put it…in other words, there is little-to-no fly away powder because the bristles are so dense. If I were contouring a face for a photoshoot it would be a different story…might pull out the smaller brushes for that for a more detailed line, but i’m going for the more every day look, so blunt brush it is!

For the bronzer, I used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Bronzer (Shade: Medium Deep). Like I mentioned in the video, the main spots you are going to want to hit when contouring are: the hollows of your cheeks just under your cheekbones and above your jaw line, on both of your temples, on the sides of your nose and on the tip, lightly on your hairline, and under your jaw bone and neck area to create the illusion of a dominant jawline. You will look a little scary at first with such a dark color on your face, but with a little blending you’ll be on your way to the runway. Bronzer Lastly, my top favorite-i’m-so-in-love-with-can’t-live-without tool for blending is this bad boy. This “miracle blob” foam makeup tool blends everything from excess concealer, overpowering blush and harsh bronzer lines together to create a seamless complexion. blending sponge To additionally aid you in your exciting contouring journey, below I provided you with some more images that may help you nail down this oh-so-sneaky makeup secret and show you the difference just a little makeup can make. {little tip: click the picture above to purchase these items}
